Daily Entries: Day 10

Today i followed the virtue of industry! I made sure that I got all of my work done for school. No matter how tired I was, I still had to try my best at all I do. My life literally depends on it because college is my only options for leaving this area. Wish me luck in life!

Today I also ignored the virtue of sincerity. Me and my mother had a disagreement and I tried to be nice but still let her understand my views. I feel as though I might have hurt her feelings even though I didn't mean to. I honestly don't think that we will ever understand each other.

Today I followed the virtue of industry because I got all of my work done in marketing! It was a huge packet of math problems that will be on the test.

Today I also ignored the virtue of cleanliness. I should have taken my shower as soon as I got home tonight but I got caught up in my homework and now instead of just going to bed and getting wonderful sleep, I have to take a shower first >.<

Today I followed the virtue of industry "Tis easier to build two chimneys, than maintain one in fuel."Yesterday I had lost my pencil but thank goodness it wasn't the end of the world because I had many back-up pencils! I was also able to recover my missing one so today turned out even better than!

Today I think I might have ignored the virtue of silence "Speak little, do much". I think I might have spoken too many times or for too long during our socratic seminar today in class.

Daily Entries: Day 7

Today I followed the virtue of industry "Employ thy time well, if thou meanest to gain leisure". I had a substitute in two classes today so I was given a lot to do in each. I made a lot of progress in my first period class and I'm almost half way done with my first part of The Great Gatsby project. I'll have to finish reading chapters 1 & 2 before Friday. In Honors US History, we were given a packet of worksheets to finish and I was able to complete all of them. Today was very productive! (Leo raises his glass to my productiveness)

I sometimes ignore the virtue of silence "Great modesty often hides great merit". It seems as though I enjoy reminding the freshmen in my Vocal Music class that I've taken the class before and make them think that I know what's best. I'm not the best singer in the world (obviously) I still need a lot of work and practice but I love it. I hope to become even better when I grow up.

Daily Entries: Day 6

(Yesterday) I followed the virtue of humility "What is Serving God? 'Tis doing Good to Man". My mom wants me to be a doctor when I grow up but I don't. I'd rather do something with music. I believe that whatever we do with our lives, should help people or society in some way. I think that as long as you try your best at life and try to help others (sincerly) then you should have a pretty good chance of getting into heaven.

Today I ignored the virtue of justice "No Wood without Bark" Once again I had a bad hair day and it was super duper fluffy. Only thanks to the nature and elements of the weather caused this but everything was okay. We all have our imperfections :p

Daily Entries: Day 5

Yesterday (I was sick) I showed the virtue of order "He that would catch fish, must venture his bait.".  In order to do well with my fruit sale for the music department, I had to inform everyone in my church of the sale. I needed to prepare before I could even think about turning in money for our fundraiser. Despite my illness, I knew that I would have to fight through it or else my sales wouldn't be very profitable because if I waited until next week, I wouldn't have enough time to get as many sales as opposed to doing it now.

I ignored the virtue of tranquility"He's that secure is not safe." although I tend to ignore this one everyday in my own way. I have this subconscious theory that if I close myself off from others to save myself from becoming hurt, then it's just better that way. But I feel as though in doing that, I'm not really helping myself or I'm making it easier for people to hurt me once I open up again or that it hurts more. Maybe one day I can break free from this and not feel like I have to be alone.

Today I showed the virtue of industry "Experience keeps a dear school, but fools will learn in no other, and scarce in that". I gained a lot of experience that I can use in the future for music by going to Cary Band Day. All of the performances were amazing and I hope that one day we can participate as well.

I ignored the virtue of order "Wink at small faults; remember thou hast great ones". I was so concerned about wearing a ponytail today because I feel like they make me look bald becausewith all of my hair is being pulled to the back of my head, so I wore my hair down. Everyone else told me that I looked nice already but I didn't feel so.

Today I showed the virtue of industry "God gives all things to industry". I made sure that everything that was due today was turned in, every test I had, I was well prepared for, and I completed all my work in each of my classes. So hopefully maybe God will give me some things :p.

I ignored the virtue of tranquility "One day is worth two tomorrows". Even though I went to school today, I really didn't want to. I didn't acknowledge just how valuable today was.

Thankfully tonight was our last home football game and our homecoming as well. I won't have to play bass drum at another game all year ~_~ relaxation on Fridays here I come! ^_^

Today I showed the virtue of industry "Industry pays debts while despair increases them". Instead of being annoyed with the world (how I felt this morning) I focused more on what all I had to accomplish before tomorrow. I felt quite industrial while finishing work and studying for various quizzes and tests.

I ignored the virtue of Order "Diligence is the mother of good luck" and possibly doing my best work on my AVID essay. I was more focused on just finishing up but I feel as though I made many sufficient key points.

Daily Entries: Day 1

Today I showed the virtue of industry "There are no gains without pains". I participated in a Thrift Shop work night for the Music Department. There was a lot of dust and by the time it was over my feet hurt. It was all worth it though because for every person who came, we received 2.5 hours! I also ignored the virtue of temperance "At the working man's house hunger looks in but dares not enter.". Instead of only eating one set of cheesy-dippers during lunch, I went back for seconds. It backfired on me though because afterwards my tummy hurt for overeating. When will I ever learn my limits?

This is the beginning of something great... or at least my Benjamin Franklin project. My name is Amelia ^_^ and I'm writing this blog for my first period AP Language & Composition class. I'll be presenting information on the life of Benjamin Franklin, the main points of his autobiography, post daily examples of his virtues based on my own daily activities, discuss his aphorisms, and include pictures!
